When developing characters for your script, creating them is basically a dual process; you shape their distinct souls and lead them through life-altering arcs. You should first take note of their innermost parts – emotions, psychological statuses or morals among others. It is analogous to launching a ship; at this point his/her character introduction starts off.
During the entire story, every turn acts as a trial that forces the protagonists to stand by their principles, fight their phobias up to transformation. Character development and arcs are the intertwined threads that weave the beating heart of your narrative. Dynamic arcs breathe life into your story, ensuring characters resonate with the audience through meaningful growth.
For example, your hero may start off being a bit too timid or unsure of himself before he eventually overcomes his fears and becomes much braver; alternatively, he could be someone who appears evil at first but then turns out not so bad after all, much like Darth Vader from Star Wars who had spent most of his life working for the Dark Side until he finally turned against them at the end for the sake of his son, Luke Skywalker.
