Dialogue formatting

Dialogue formatting is a critical aspect of screenplay writing. This ensures that actors, directors, and producers can understand what each other are saying in any given situation. Character names should be centered and capitalized at the beginning of each sentence just like this table head. The words spoken by these characters are usually indented leftwardly at the center point of each page.

Beyond creating clarity and fluency in text, specific placement and style conventions make up proper formatting. Instructions contained here include parenthetical details on how a line should be delivered. Besides, dialogue should be short but serve its purpose to show the character’s tone and move the story along or/and reveal traits of the person. Following typical script form rules will not only enrich professional quality but it also makes production much easier.
